Register Now for the Broward County Response and Recovery Summit

The Broward Emergency Management Agency (BEMA) is hosting the 2008 Broward County Response and Recovery Summit on Monday, December 3, beginning at 8:30 a.m. at the Broward County Convention Center, 1950 Eisenhower Blvd., Fort Lauderdale. Registration is free.
Broward County Vice Mayor Lois Wexler will extend the welcome to the summit, which is designed for first responders and those involved in keeping the public safe and informed during and after an emergency. Attendees will learn the latest information on response and recovery issues for the 2008 hurricane season as well as other potential natural and technological disasters.
The summit includes a plenary session featuring guest speaker Dr. Gavin Smith, a nationally recognized leader and specialist in the field who was instrumental in facilitating the recovery operations along the Gulf Coast in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in 2005. The summit also includes a variety of informative workshops and strategies on such topics as response operations, National Incident Management System (NIMS) compliance for response, mitigation, logistics planning and coordination, public information, and more.
